Pumpkin Spice Apple Waffles

Waffles get a comforting fall flavor boost with apple sauce, apple butter and pumpkin pie spice.


Servings: 24

 8 cups all-purpose flour  

 2 Tbsp. baking powder 

 2 1/4 tsp baking soda 

 1 Tbsp. pumpkin pie spice 

 1 tsp salt 

 4 1/2 cups milk 

 1 1/2 cups Musselman’s® Premium Blend Apple Sauce 

 1 cup brown sugar 

 1/2 cup vegetable oil 

 1 Tbsp. vanilla  

 2 cups water 

 1 1/2 cups 35% whipping cream 

 1/2 cup maple syrup 

 3 cups vanilla ice cream 

 1/2 cup Musselman’s® Premium Apple Butter 

 2 Tbsp. cinnamon 

 Non-stick cooking spray (as needed) 


  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, pumpkin pie spice and salt.
  2. In a separate large bowl, whisk together milk, Musselman’s® Premium Blend Apple Sauce, brown sugar, oil, vanilla and 2 cups of water.  
  3. Fold the flour mixture from step 1 into the milk mixture from step 2, stirring just until combined (a few lumps are OK). Let stand at room temperature for 5 minutes. 
  4. Spray the waffle iron with cooking spray; then ladle ½ cup (4.5 oz) of the batter into the waffle iron to fill it to edges. Cook for 6 to 7 minutes or until crispy and golden. Repeat with the remaining batter to make 24 waffles. 
  5. In a small bowl, and using a hand mixer, beat the whipping cream until stiff peaks form. Add in 1 tablespoon of maple syrup and beat until combined. 
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together Musselman’s® Premium Apple Butter and the remaining maple syrup to create the apple butter syrup.  
  7. To serve, plate each waffle and top with 2 tablespoons of the whipped cream, 2 tablespoons of ice cream, and 1½ teaspoons of the apple butter syrup. Dust cinnamon over top. 


Preheat oven to 200°F to keep batches of cooked waffles warm for serving.
