Cheers to Cherry Bars


Coconut, cherry pie filling and sweetened condensed milk form the lush filling along with coconut and pecans in a graham cracker crust of this rich dessert bar that is useable any time of the year for holidays and special occasions. It will be a hit with people of all ages, 4 through 90.

Ingredients

24 servings
1 qt. graham cracker crumbs
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 cup unsalted butter, melted
3 1/2 cups (28 oz.) sweetened condensed milk
2 cups shredded, unsweetened coconut
2 cups chopped toasted pecans


Method

Preheat oven to 350°F.

In the bottom of a full-size, shallow hotel pan (21 x 13"), mix together graham cracker crumbs and sugar. Add butter and mix well. Press evenly into bottom of hotel pan.

Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over graham cracker crust. Refrigerate 30 minutes.

Pour fruit filling or topping evenly over milk layer and spread out into an even layer. Sprinkle top with coconut and pecans.

Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from heat and cool before cutting into 24 equal bars to serve.
