Apple Butter Barbeque Sauce

A classic barbecue sauce using an American classic, apple butter. This barbecue sauce is chock full of spice and flavor.


24 x 3-Tbsp. servings
3 Tbsp. vegetable oil
2 cups chopped yellow onion
2 Tbsp. minced garlic
3 cups ketchup
1 1/2 cups (about 15 oz.) MUSSELMAN'S Apple Butter
3 Tbsp. brown mustard
3 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp. horseradish
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
1 tsp. ground black pepper


In sauce pan heat oil; add onion sauté 2 minutes. Stir in garlic and continue cooking 1 minute.
Stir in ketchup, apple butter, mustard, Worcestershire, horseradish, lemon juice and pepper; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes, stirring often to prevent sticking.
Remove from heat, cool, place in covered container and keep refrigerated at least 24 hours before using as a BBQ sauce for roast or grilled pork chops, turkey, chicken, shrimp or wild game.
